Okay - one, I've been away from here too long. Two, I certainly have a reason to be back! As of August 2009 I was able to launch out and go full time as a freelance self-employed professional sculptor for the tabletop gaming industry. It is something that I had done sporadically as a hobby since about 2005. Since then I had managed to land a handful of clients that I did work for on occasion to make additional income.
After being laid off for six months and then returning to another cubicle situation under severely strict working conditions for half the previous pay I had enough. I lasted there about six months and then quit abruptly with the intent to grow my client base to replace my income. After the first year we were able to tread water, keep the house and the lights on and keep the fridge stocked so it seemed to work okay.
After attending GenCon this year and forging some new working relations along with adding to my clients from online contacts, 2011 seems to be shaping up to be better than last year. As of now I'm already fully booked about four months ahead of schedule. I think I'll really be able to start to feel comfortable when I have a least six months booked at a time.
Anyway, I will be adding more to my gallery here once the pics are signed off from my clients. Enjoy the show!
