Almost done!

Journal Entry: Mon Aug 13, 2007, 10:14 PM
After knocking myself out all of June to get stuff ready for the IDEX show it would have been really cool to take some time off and relax. However, I had made the (enthusiastic) mistake of telling my brother-in-law (who is a RenFaire costuming fiend) we could make some Warcaster armor out of fiberglass castings.

So - All of July was spent sculpting the pieces, and all of August has been molding them. We are desperately trying to get it all finished in time for Dragon*Con. So far I have all of the parts sculpted and molded with silicon/plaster molds and will start casting the resin tomorrow.

September will be a complete change of gears (once again). I will be starting an all new project that has been cooking for a long time and will be posting a production diary of the process on the blog site here as well as the production art to my DeviantART gallery. Stay tuned!

Exhibit for MKStudios

We were asked to display some of our art at one of the local public libraries. After digging through the archives (ie. closets and boxes) Vicky and I managed to cobble together enough stuff to fill a fairly large showcase. Check out the link to our news blog for more info.

Bright light!

Journal Entry: Thu May 31, 2007, 3:09 AM
Alas, my days of living as the vampire have come to an end. Today I begin my sleep cycle on the day shift for the first time in seven years. The is will be of great benefit for the times we will be doing art shows and such. It is always terribly annoying to have to switch back and forth for such events. Other events with family and friends should likewise be more enjoyable since I won't be nodding off in the middle of movies or dozing at holiday gatherings.

Having finished my latest commissions for Reaper Miniatures and Impact! Miniatures, I decided to take this week off and basically lounge on the couch before diving into prepping for our show season. We have display space to fill at the IDEX doll show and progress has been steady if not slow. It is too soon to panic, and all should be completed well before departing for Vegas.

I will post some new photos soon after the "all clear" is given.

Class Handouts Done!

Journal Entry: Wed May 16, 2007, 3:35 AM
Okay! I finally finished the class handouts tonight! That had been hanging over my head since scheduling the things. As usual, I waited until (almost) the last minute to complete them. I may be able to make them available as a PDF download from our site once the classes are done.

I still have a bit of commission sculpting to finish for Reaper tomorrow night before heading out to ReaperCon on Thursday. I am anticipating it being a busy and exciting weekend. Once I get signed off on the piece I will try post some pictures of the most recent figure I'm working on.

Avoiding Work

I am surfing the net tonight and really should be writing info on the handouts for my sculpting classes. Time is getting short for that too, coming up on Thursday. I am looking forward to seeing the other sculptors at ReaperCon though, great bunch of folks.
